I watched the film Pretty Woman, the motif of success being gained from the charm of a woman was present throughout the film.

In the film a woman, Vivian, appears to be a prostitute who is dealing with a lot just to make ends meet. Just like every Cinderella story, she meets a charming rich man, Edward, who takes a chance on her when in the need for directions Vivian helps him by showing him where to go. She then proceeds to create a persona in which would make her appear more wealthy or valuable than an average hooker by saying things such as, "I make $100 dollars an hour..". This also relates to the original version of the Cinderella story because Cinderella usually looks worn down and raggedy, but manages to somehow persuade the prince that she is more than what she usually appears to be by the imagery of wearing a stunning dress; this image is also recreated when Edward takes Vivian out for dinner.

Moving forward, Edward begins to take a liking to Vivian, not originally because of her appearance but more so because of her charm/personality; even though it appears that she does not have much to offer except sexual desires at first, Vivian personality which is loving, caring, and sweet begins to be revealed which Edward gravitates towards.

As the movie progresses Vivian does in fact gain success and riches from meeting Edward. She first gains $300 dollars from spending the night with him in a fancy penthouse at the top of one of the finest hotels. She is then given the best foods and best service moving forward from just about everyone she interacts with because of her knowing Edward. He then hires Vivian to be his escort for a week and pays her $3,000 which is a ton of money at the this time period. Moving forward her life begins to get less overwhelming and stress is relieved because she has less things to worry about because money is no longer a worry.

So I would to conclude with agreeing that someone can reach success through magic, charm, or marriage, etc. For example, take two people in the real world in consideration, one comes from a very wealthy background, the other does not. Once the two of them get married it will no longer matter how poor the person was before because they will gain wealth from their significant other. With that being stated, I believe this can happen in many cases, but it is not something worth waiting to expect to happen someday; this meaning, yes, it can very well be realistic but not as probable to happen to any and everyone.

I would also like to conclude by saying, Pretty Woman was a very good movie. I liked how different this moving was from other Cinderella tales that I have read and it even presents a more realistic side to a Cinderella story. If you have not watched the movie yet, please do so. Thanks for reading!
